Mackenzie

Mackenzie is now 4 years old and in her second year of preschool. We got a nice surprise for school this year. She was supposed to have the same teacher as she did last year but at the last minute her teacher decided not to teach this year. So she now has a wonderful new teacher named Ms. Leslie, she is a first year teacher but you wouldn't have guessed it. Mackenzie just loves her. She's been great with all the kids, her activities are wonderful, she has fun with it. Mackenzie is already starting to read, she knew all her sounds and it was the natural next step to teach her to start putting the sounds together, so at home we've been working on CVC words she can sound out and some sight words. Ms. Leslie knows we've been working on these so she has Kenz read as much as she can in class too. Kenz is getting so big, it's kinda sad. We have to register her for Kindergarten in two weeks. She is so excited to go to the same school as Ana. Mackenzie has been stuck on watching cooking shows on food network and the cooking channel for the past couple weeks. I let her make pancakes by herself two weeks ago, the girl broke an egg perfectly, who know's how. When I asked her how she broke it so well she said "I've been practicing on Cooking Mama". On Thursday she helped cook Chicken Parmesan and some pasta. She even coated the raw chicken, once she realized it was just kinda slimey and she could wash her hands after. She loved it and she actually ate all her dinner that night. She's been a picky eater on and off her whole life. We've been in a picky stage lately, so I've been working with her, she's agreed to try 4 bites of everything we cook at home, and having her help cook has helped as well.
